A Timeless Colorado Ranch Celebration Captured Through Emotion and Detail
“I want to be her,” Lauren said about me at the end of her reception. And I’ve never felt more honored to be a photographer. There are couples who hire me that I could frankly hang out with outside of any working relationship. Nick and Lauren are that kind of couple. It was pure fun and such a treat to document their ranch wedding. They are completely down-to-earth and the emotions I captured of them with their families was so special. Whether it was Lauren’s first look with her dad, the longhorn portrait experience, or how they partied to the last call- this was a day I’ll always remember.

Colorado Springs is one of those places where rugged mountain beauty meets heartfelt, authentic celebration. And when Lauren + Nick chose Younger Ranch for their big day, the result was an unforgettable ranch wedding filled with emotion, rustic elegance, and some seriously fun moments.
In this behind-the-scenes recap, you’ll discover:
What Makes the Ranch One of Colorado’s Most Memorable Venues
Located at the northern end of Colorado Springs, Younger Ranch isn’t just another wedding venue. It’s a working historic cattle ranch with roots that go back generations. The family-owned property blends Colorado’s natural beauty with rustic character: wooden barns, expansive meadows, wandering longhorns, dreamy views of Pike’s Peak, and authentic Western details you won’t find anywhere else.

This blend of history, natural beauty, and thoughtful wedding amenities gives couples the feeling that their celebration isn’t just “in Colorado” — it’s of Colorado.

For Lauren, getting ready wasn’t rushed. It was full of laughter and shared moments with the people she cared about most. In the rustic wood-lined bridal suite, she and her bridesmaids slipped into cozy matching ensembles and slid into slippers as hair and makeup took shape. These early images always set the emotional tone for the rest of the day. They combine a mix of stylish details and honest excitement.
Her gown featured a delicate lace bodice and dramatic train, perfectly paired with white embroidered cowgirl boots. A thoughtful nod to the ranch setting. Every accessory, from the diamond bracelet to the carefully chosen earrings, reflected both personal style and the atmosphere of the venue.
Meanwhile, upstairs in the teepee nestled among the trees, Nick shared relaxed moments with his groomsmen and family. Classic black tuxes and suspenders were complemented by signature touches like cowboy hats, tying in seamlessly with the Western environment.

In addition to her first look with Nick, Lauren made space for a first look with her dad — moments that consistently become some of the most meaningful to witness and photograph.
Under a canopy of trees near the teepee, her dad turned around to see his daughter in her full wedding attire for the first time. The expression on his face — a mixture of pride, love, and a little bit of disbelief — sets the tone for genuine storytelling imagery.
These aren’t just pictures; they’re emotional touchpoints that become treasured heirlooms for families.

One of the most unforgettable parts of Lauren + Nick’s wedding was the longhorn portrait experience. It’s a unique signature of Younger Ranch. As the owners brought out the ranch’s longhorn cattle, there was a blend of reverence and excitement. These majestic animals graze the property as part of its working history, and having them integrated into portrait time made this celebration feel deeply tied to place and tradition.
Feeding treats to the longhorns added opportunities for relaxed, natural portraiture unlike anything you’d find at a traditional venue. It’s these kinds of moments that turn wedding galleries into stories.

Sunset at Younger Ranch transitions the landscape into something cinematic. Warm, golden light fading into glowing hues behind hay bales, windmills, and rolling fields, all framed by the Rocky Mountains.
For Lauren + Nick, we took advantage of this golden hour glow to capture portraits that radiated warmth and intimacy. Whether leaning against a vintage windmill or stepping into a field dusted with late afternoon light, these images exude emotion without forced posing.
Sunset sessions like this aren’t just about nice lighting. They’re about capturing the calm between the high energy moments of the day.

The Party
“I just wanna spin you ’round and ’round that dance floor, keep you drunk on a love like mine,” sang Morgan Wallen during Nick and Lauren’s first dance. Surrounded by family and friends on the outside patio, string lights above, they kicked off the reception party. Lauren’s dad had already given the sweetest speech honoring those who serve. Nick’s brother had everyone laughing until he ended with such heartfelt words. Tears all around, and amazing BBQ.
And did they know how to party.

What makes a Younger Ranch wedding special isn’t just the picturesque scenery, though that’s undeniably breathtaking. It’s the way the environment seamlessly supports emotion, personality, and story. You aren’t just having a wedding in Colorado; you’re celebrating in a place that deeply reflects values of family, history, and lasting commitment.
