Nestled between the peaks of Woodland Park, a stunning VRBO home sets the stage for Theresa and Brian’s long-awaited day. Their classic wedding in Colorado Springs was a celebration of love, friendship, and the incredible natural beauty that surrounded them. From heartfelt vows to their pups as witnesses, every detail was carefully planned to create an unforgettable experience. An extra fun element as their photographer, was that Theresa grew up close to my hometown in Missouri!

Beauty like the Rocky Mountains is unmatched, and to be enveloped by them while getting married is a dream. Whether it was through the windows of the great room, just beyond the ceremony site, or while Theresa danced with her dad, the views just did not stop. We had varying weather but the mountains stayed ruggedly blue and vast. When a rain storm moved in and brought quick showers, it cast moody light and shadows across the range. A rainbow even stretched the expanse at rain slowed.

Not many weddings can claim 3 first looks, but that’s exactly what they did. Brian could not have been more surprised to find Peanut instead of Theresa when he turned around the first time. But then Theresa did the actual first look where they had intimate moments to read their vows to each other. This was a really meaningful way to be just the two of them before guests started filling the seats.
She also planned a special look with her dad, gifting him a tie and message embroidered specifically for him. There’s something unique about dads and daughters, and the connection between them was evident.

There’s something special about a ceremony for couples who waited a long time to find each other. It feels like the crescendo to a season of questions and holding hope. Wooden benches lined the aisle, accented with florals. Theresa’s brother became certified to officiate and was standing with Brian as she came out of the rental. As the only child, Theresa’s dad was full of emotion as they made their way to the front. Once there, they took a selfie with their guests before asking cell phones to be put away. I love when couples are intentional about this! It helps immensely when I don’t have to edit out a million devices from important moments.
After speaking their vows through tears and giggling through a few jokes, Brian and Theresa sealed their marriage with a kiss. Guests grabbed bubble guns from under the benches as the couple raised their hands in a celebration. Halfway through the crowd, Brian dipped her for another kiss.
Weddings in Colorado Springs, and in the entire state allow fur babes to sign as a witness. So Peanut and Buddy, after walking down as ring bearer and flower girl, officially printed their paws on the marriage certificate. It took a couple tries and some maneuvering but what a sweet moment for Theresa and Brian. This was something she was adamant to have as their dogs are just as much family as anyone else.

There were many unique elements to this wedding, and each one meant something deep to Brian and Theresa. It’s fun to see unique elements from how a couple met to a meaningful date can be incorporated into a wedding. During their reception they rented an ice cream truck as this was something they often did while dating. Any topping you can imagine was laid on the table.
But the highlight of the reception was seeing Theresa dance with her dad, and Brian with his mom. In the prior year, Brian lost his father so their dance was a bittersweet moment. However, Theresa’s dance with her dad was exactly what every photographer wants to capture. It’s that real, raw emotion of love. In a way, it’s a saying goodbye with each note of the music. This is one thing I never got to do with my own father. I didn’t have a wedding and I truly grieve not having these types of moments.
Though I didn’t stay
