Vallecito Lake Wedding: Lacey + Cameron

January 15, 2025

AN INTIMATE AFFAIR

When I first talked to Lacey and Cam, I knew quite quickly that they were deeply genuine and kind people. As their answers started to fill in the boxes on my wedding questionnaire, it was evident their love was thoughtful, unselfish, and authentic. They explained how Cam’s aunt owned property near Vallecito Lake where they planned to exchange vows among close friends and family. And also, that they love to run marathons together.

THE DETAILS

Tucked into the San Juan mountain range, Vallecito Lake is one of the largest bodies of water in Colorado. Its beauty reminds me of the northern east coast with towering trees and a rainy climate. Early June dealt us a lot of sprinkles and by ceremony time it was a downpour. Thankfully we had gotten most of their portraits taken but there was a scramble to cover benches once the rain settled in. While we were delayed, guests grabbed a drink and made the best of it, laughing and sharing stories.

Cabernet bridesmaid dresses and soft pink florals created a classic compliment to the rustic features of the landscape. Cam wore a navy blue suit and his groomsmen donned bow ties and suspenders. I don’t know how anyone could not love a good set of suspenders.

A custom arbor arched over the altar while wood benches and minimalist florals lined the aisle. But Lola, their sweet pup may have stolen the spotlight as flower girl while a harpist played live music for the wedding party. So many unique and special touches created an unforgettable day.

Lacey and Cameron wanted to keep things simple; let nature do most of the details for them. And it did.

CHERISHED MOMENTS

One of the most obvious traits of this wedding was the importance of family and friends. Many guests came from Albuquerque or outside the Durango area so it was not just a wedding day. It was a wedding weekend full of warmth, BBQ, and so much heart. Lacey and Cam invited my husband and I to every meal and event in the most welcoming way. I witnessed the depth of their closeness with brothers, sisters, parents, their pastor, and multiple others. Documenting their day was a gift.
